North Carolina Walk

April 17th, Currituck County Judicial Center, 1:30 p.m.

Please join us -- a group of sixth graders from Currituck, North Carolina, who are organizing the first ever Currituck Kids Walk for Kids with Cancer!

When we heard some NYC kids had organized a walkathon to help children fighting cancer, we decided we wanted to support the cause here in NC. Like the NYC Kids Walk, 100% of our proceeds will fund pediatric cancer research at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center, the world’s oldest and largest private cancer center. MSKCC is researching new and better cancer treatments for children, and we’re going to help fund these treatments!

Currituck Kids Walk Details:
We’re inviting everyone in the area, of every age and from any county, to show support for kids with cancer by walking with us on April 17th. Meet us at Currituck County Judicial Center on Caratoke Highway starting at 1:30 p.m. We’ll have a brief program at 2 p.m., followed by a 4-mile walk around the grounds, and ending with snacks and socializing!

 

You do not have to register for the Currituck Kids Walk for Kids with Cancer. However, if you'd like to set up an individual fundraising page, online registration is required. MK Morgan created an online NC team. All Carolinians creating online fundraising pages should sign up for her team. 

Spread the word to your family and friends to stop by on April 17th to say hi and make a donation! All are welcome!

Fundraising & Donations: We ask walkers to try to obtain sponsors, who can make a donation in any amount to support pediatric cancer research. Walkers can use the materials on this page to help with their fundraising.

Donations can be made online, or by check. Make your check payable to "Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center." Specify “NC Kids Walk” and the walker’s name in the memo. You can turn donations in at the Walk or mail them to:

We request that walkers who are not sponsored make a contribution of $20 at the Walk. You can also buy an official T-shirt for $10 at the Walk while supplies last. Bring a water bottle and an umbrella if it’s cloudy; snacks for the post-walk get-together are also appreciated.

Don't forget, to register online you will need to:

1. Register online and complete the general waiver for the web site host, Active.com.

2. Complete and submit a hard copy of the Release of Liability and Publicity Consent waiver to MSKCC.

3. If you plan to disclose health information about yourself or a loved one on your online fundraising page, you will need to provide Memorial Sloan-Kettering with a HIPPA release form.
